In 2008, Mount Pleasant Ranked 12th Best Municipal Golf Course
 in the United States by Golfweek Magazine

According to Golfweek Magazine’s 2008 ranking of the top 30 municipal golf courses in the country, Mount Pleasant Golf Course ranked 12th.  A few of the notable courses on the list are Bethpage State Park Black Course (NY) ranked 1st, host of the 2002 and 2009 U.S. Open; Indian Wells (CA) ranked 3rd, home of the Skins Game competition; and Torrey Pines South Course (CA) ranked 5th, host of the 2008 U.S. Open.

“It is thrilling to be included in this list which includes some great golf courses the United States,” said Jonathon Ladd, PGA, Executive Director for the Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation.  He added,” We take pride in our accomplishments over the years and have maintained a high level of quality and service as it relates to serious golfers as well as those players new to the game.”

Mount Pleasant, a par 71 course designed by Gus Hook, opened in 1934. It is a GolfDigest 4-star rated golf course that has been tournament tested over the years by both professional and amateur golfers.  In 1956, Arnold Palmer secured his second American tournament win as a touring professional golfer at Mount Pleasant. It was also home of the Eastern Invitational Open from 1950-1963. Mount Pleasant has hosted and continues to be the home of three to four amateur tournaments each year.
